I’m originally from the Monterey Peninsula, California where I was a competitive swimmer growing up. After 12 years of swimming, I switched to daily running for exercise. I didn’t understand the importance of strength training until I started training during my second pregnancy and saw the difference it made in the recovery from my second c-section.
I had no strength to recover from my first c-section and the overtraining I was doing by running all the time had, unbeknownst to me at the time, weakened me further by forcing my body to extract energy from my muscles. This resulted in me not even being able to walk for almost two weeks post-surgery.
After the second c-section, where I only strength trained, I was not only walking the very next day but I was fully recovered in two weeks. It only took me 4 months postpartum, strength training once a week, to surpass my pre-pegnancy weight and get to an ideal body weight.
Now the only thing I do for exercise is strength train. From then on I knew I had to make part of my mission in life to help others understand the importance of strengthening the body and improve their lives through strength training. I love seeing the difference in our clients’ lives as they get stronger.
