Strengthen Post Illness or Surgery
In case of extreme illness or surgery, the body looks to muscle for the greatest stores of mitochondria, aka the body’s power house. It helps give the body energy and substance during difficult trials. The greatest stores of mitochondria can be found in skeletal muscle.
Nothing can take a toll on the body more than long-term illness or surgery.
It can be especially important for cancer survivors to rebuild their bodies after the severity of cancer treatments. If you’re doctor has cleared you for exercise, building muscle is the best way to help re-balance all of your body’s systems.
Not all muscle building programs can be tailored to the needs of someone recovering from illness or surgery.
In our method...
Our method is low-force. That means the impact to your body is low. We achieve this by slowing down the speed of your exercise because force is the product of mass and acceleration. We need the mass to be just heavy enough to be meaningful. Therefore, if we reduce the speed, we are reducing the force.
Additionally, our machines have a specially designed element called a "cam." Its job is the lighten the weight load of the exercise at a very specific point of your range of motion. By doing this, it not only allows you to complete full range repetitions (rather than shortening your range as often happens with other machines or free weights) but it also reduces the mass where you are the weakest, therefore reducing force and the risk for injury.
Traditional strength training methods and other modern forms of strength training don't take this into account. That's why they're often not safe for people with prior chronic illness, injuries, or surgeries.
There’s a right way and a wrong way to build strength. We can help you do it the right way.
